Sunny days and a sick baby

Even though our little girl was not feeling good today, she still enjoyed our little pool. She is getting ready for her vacation to Cancun. . We loaded her up with sunscreen and blew up the new floaty. She enjoyed playing with the rubber duckies in the pool.
Notice, her typical big smile is missing, she has 3-4 teeth coming in and seems to be battling some kind of infection or virus. Initially, we thought it was just the teething but she became so irritable late Friday night and had a 102 degree temp. We took her to urgent care and they said it isn't just the teething but maybe the start of a virus or something. Uhhhhh! Of course, they can not do anything for her. Not what we wanted to hear for the first hot weekend of the summer! Poor baby girl, Please keep her in your prayers. As any parents know, it is absolutely horrific to watch your baby be sick. She has thrown up 3 times in the last 24 hours and seems miserable. She has her 9 month check up Monday morning, so at least we will be able to consult with her pediatrician. Until then, we are laying very low and trying to give her as much love and comfort as we can.

Dad's Day Weekend

Daddy and Daughter, enjoying the sun.

Lexie playing at Kelly and Dick's BBQ

"Flying" on her new airplane from Pops and Granny Neicey

She even has her own lawn chair at their house!

With Grandma Neicey.

All 3 of us were fortunate enough to spend some quality time with our dad's this weekend. Saturday morning, Travis and Lexie cheered me on as I ran the Sound to Narrow's 5k. I finished with my best time for that race (27:30.) I credit my new personal record to being a mom, and having to hurry and rush through my workouts to tend to baby. It was cute to see them at the finish line. Of course, Lexie loved the crazy race atmosphere, next year we will enter her in the diaper dash.
Saturday evening, we headed over to Dan and Julies, for a Brock BBQ. It was great to spend sometime with Travis's family, Lexie was a little crabby at first but warmed up after some pound cake : ) The Brock guys are already busy planning their hunting trips for the fall.
Sunday morning we went to a BBQ at Kelly and Dick's. It was so much fun to see their little guy, Zachary (10 months) and Lexie play together. We are so lucky that they literally only live 5 min from us now.
After that, we headed down to Olympia to my parent's for dinner. My dad had made some delicious steaks. We also celebrated Papa Louie's Birthday, which is June 20th. My mom bought Lexie a Micky Mouse Airplane that she can sit on and "fly." It was a hit!

Travis and I often talk about our memories of childhood and our fathers. Travis always tells me that one of his favorite memories is of him and his Dad going to the dump together. He always says, "I can't wait to take Lexie to the dump with me." While I am not quite as excited to see my baby exposed to the yucky, smelly, dump, I do appreciate his desire to share those everyday tasks and experiences with her. Looking back, it was these same type of memories I cherish with my dad as well. I loved when he would show up at my basketball practices, shooting hoops with him in the driveway, and running errands. It is so special to watch Travis with Lexie, I know how lucky she is to have a loving father like him.

8 month update

On her 8 month birthday

I thought I better write an 8 month update before Lexie turns 9 months. Our little girl has officially started crawling the right way (for along time she was getting around with the commando crawl.) She is still kind of slow (thank goodness) but so proud of her new found independence.

Here are some other things she is up to:
* Added "dada" to her vocab list.
* Lots more babbling.
* Discovered that she loves yogurt and cheese!
* Still obsessed with our cat and shrikes with delight when she sees her.
* Is fascinated by older kiddos.
* Loves stroller walks and being outside.
* Running in the jogging stroller with mom.
* Playing with other babies and people watching.
* She takes 2 naps a day (1hr-2hrs each.)
* 3 meals of solids a day.

There is no doubt Lexie is a people person. She loves interacting with anyone! She seems to know how to charm complete strangers wherever we go. The only challenge we have is she has not been the best eater these days. She would much rather be playing or moving around. Overall, she is doing great and we just love watching her grow : )

Look what Daddy brought home

Daddy showed up with this awesome backpack carrier for me today. He spent his lunch hour and babies'r'us and picked out the best one. He wants to carry me around in it when we go to Mexico in July. I had to try it out and I loved it. I loved being taller then Mommy. We went over to our neighbors house and I loved showing it off. Good work Daddy!

Play date with The Arnolds

Today my friend, Amy, her newborn son, Ephraim, and dog, Wallis, came down and had a play date with us. Ephraim is so cute and cuddly. I told Amy to enjoy it while it lasts. She was laughing as Lexie was trying to roll over and crawl during a diaper change. My little hyper baby!
Lexie was somewhat interested in him, mostly in just trying to take off his socks. She also loved showing off her new clapping skill to our guests. We took the two babies and Wallis for a walk. It was great seeing them and I have a feeling we will have many more play dates in the future.

Daddy's Home!!!

Daddy showed up last night after being gone for 4 days. He was in Alaska on a fishing trip courtesy of Hermanson Company. He got the biggest halibut that weighed in at 45lbs!
The best part is, that he brought me back this awesome raccoon hat. When daddy put it on me and I instantly started laughing and clapping. I plan to wear during my upcoming camping and outdoor trips.

A new cousin

Travis's cousin, Joey, and his wife Katey welcomed their 2nd son on Saturday.
Cole Gregory, was 6lbs15oz and 21" long. He is too precious. Here is one of the pictures Aunt Nancy sent of big brother Parker holding little Cole. Congrats to the Bartkus Family!
